Dr Brett Watson

Country Business Unit General Manager Electrification and Automation, Siemens

Dr. Brett Watson holds Undergraduate and Postgraduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Queensland. He has nearly 30 years of experience in the medium voltage switchgear industry and is a respected leader in the overhead medium voltage recloser segment. His expertise includes circuit breaker design, manufacturing, sales, and technical support.

Previously, Brett was the Managing Director of start-up company Kaon Electric and co-inventor of the FusesaverTM. He was responsible for raising capital, executing the R&D program for FusesaverTM, and leading the company’s entry into global markets, before its divestment to Siemens.

Since the start of 2022, Brett has been the General Manager of the Electrification and Automation business for Siemens Australia. He is responsible for the ongoing product development, manufacturing operations, and global business development of the FusesaverTM product portfolio. He also oversees the medium voltage switchgear, protection, and SCADA portfolio within the ANZ markets, as well as the services business supporting the installation base of the above portfolios.
