
Dr Nick Aberle
Policy Director for Energy Generation & Storage, Clean Energy Council
Nick is the CEC’s Policy Director for Energy Generation & Storage. In this role, he leads the CEC’s work on development of renewable energy projects related to planning/environmental approvals, general policy/investment conditions, community engagement and social licence. Prior to this, he was the Campaigns Manager at Environment Victoria – one of Australia’s leading environmental NGOs – where he designed and led influential campaigns to accelerate the energy transition, operating at the intersection of policy, politics, public engagement and media narrative.
Nick has also worked as a Senior Policy Analyst at the Victorian government’s Commissioner for Environmental Sustainability. Before his career in climate and energy, Nick spent almost a decade as a research scientist, with a PhD from the prestigious Walter and Eliza Hall Institute for Medical Research and a post-doctoral fellowship at Yale University. He also has a law degree from the University of Melbourne.
