Mohamed Magdeldin (Magd) leads development activities for Sumitomo SHI FW (SFW) Carbon Capture solutions. SFW’s pipeline of global decarbonization projects, in collaboration with key industrial partners target commercial and technology synergies, in which, CO2 removal is performed in a cost-efficient manner, while improving the performance of existing industrial assets and enabling circular economy applications.
Magd believes that the accelerated deployment of BioEnergy with Carbon Capture Storage and Utilization (BECCS/U) is key to reach carbon neutrality and net-zero emissions globally. He is a process and chemical engineer by practice, with a M.Sc. in energy engineering and renewables from TU Berlin, Germany, and a PhD from Aalto University, Finland on valorizing bio-based residues towards synthetic hydrogen carriers.
