
Professor Pascal Perez
Director, Australian Urban Research Infrastructure Network (AURIN)
Prof. Perez is the Director of the Australian Urban Research Infrastructure Network (AURIN), a National Research Infrastructure facility funded by NCRIS and hosted by the University of Melbourne. AURIN aims at supporting Australian researchers focused on urban informatics, urban planning, and infrastructure resilience by providing well curated datasets and up-to-date digital infrastructure.
Previously, Prof. Perez was the Director of the SMART Infrastructure Facility at the University of Wollongong, overseeing research on infrastructure-related fields such as water and energy efficiency, future transport and mobility, smart cities and communities, as well as infrastructure system engineering and logistics.
He is a specialist of integrative infrastructure modelling and socio-technological transitions. Prof. Perez is a Fellow of the Modelling and Simulation Society of Australia and New Zealand (MSSANZ) and a Fellow of the Royal Society of New South Wales. He is also a member of the International Advisory Board of UK’s Collaboratorium for Research on Infrastructure and Cities (UKCRIC).
Prof. Perez has published more than 200 refereed articles and book chapters. In 2006, he co-edited with his colleague David Batten the book ‘Complex Science for a Complex World’ (ANU E Press).
