Richard Bolt

Principal, Nous Group

Richard Bolt joined Nous Group as a Principal in 2020. He provides strategic and practical advice on energy decarbonisation to Federal and State governments, companies and non-profit organisations.

Richard is a member of the Steering Committee of Net Zero Australia (NZAu), a gift-funded partnership of Melbourne, Queensland and Princeton universities and Nous which is analysing pathways to net zero with unprecedented rigour.

Separately, Richard is Chair of NSW’s Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap Implementation Board, and a member of Energy Corporation of NSW’s Advisory Committee.

Prior to Nous, Richard led three Victorian government departments over twelve years, covering energy and resources, primary industries, education and training, economic development, employment and transport. He played lead roles in national energy reforms, Victoria’s first renewable energy and energy efficiency target schemes, and its smart meter roll out. He chaired negotiation of the successful $500m Hydrogen Energy Supply Chain pilot from Victoria to Japan.
