TNB’s Energy Transition Towards Net Zero Emissions by 2050

In response to climate risks, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has introduced the TNB Energy Transition Program that will chart our pathway towards achieving Net Zero Emissions by 2050. Cutting across the electricity value chain, this transition calls for actionable items towards meeting our sustainability commitments and aspiration while ensuring business growth. The Energy Transition program would accelerate TNB’s decarbonization aspiration and will focus on four main pillars, namely Future Generation Sources, Grid of the Future, Winning the Customer and Enabling the Transition.

TNB’s generation decarbonization as part of the Future Generation Sources pillar, will see major shifts to Renewable Energy (RE) and new green technologies towards the future, meeting our ESG commitment while ensuring business growth. TNB’s RE growth strategy will focus on acquisitions and utility-scale developments of RE assets specifically in solar, wind, hydro and battery storage in Malaysia, South East Asia, Asia Pacific, Australia, UK and Europe. Towards this end, TNB is looking to partner with reputable companies with good track record to grow our RE business through strategic partnerships and acquisitions. With these strategies and concrete action plans in place, we are confident of achieving our aspiration of Net Zero Emissions by 2050, while ensuring sustainable business growth for the Group.
